We invite applications from future teachers (studying to become one) and already in service teachers to participate in a five-day International Summer School in Florence (5 to 9 July 2027) with an international group of (future) teachers coming from nine European countries.
The Summer School is a fully funded training, part of the SWELL Teacher Academy, a European professional learning programme focused on Self-Directed Learning (SDL) to support teacher and student wellbeing.
Participants will learn about Self-Directed Learning ( learner-led, autonomous or self- determined learning) by experiencing it themselves as learners first, and exploring how they can apply it in their own teaching practice.
Participants will be able to choose from a range of modules, workshops and activities according to their interests, needs and professional goals. Most of the courses include hands-on workshops, peer learning, coaching, collaborative reflection, role-play, case
studies…
Possible topics, based on the SWELL training curriculum (still in the designing phase),
might include:
1.Explore and test SWELL Academy course content and approaches
2.Participate actively in workshops, peer learning, coaching and collaborative reflection
3. Exchange experiences and practices with teachers from other participating countries
4. Reflect on their own learning styles, motivations and professional challenges
5.Contribute with feedback that can support the further development of the SWELL Academy
6.Develop a personalised action plan for applying learning from the Summer School to their own professional context.
7.Selected participants may also be invited to remain involved in subsequent SWELL Academy activities, including follow-up reflection, feedback, Community of Practice activities or other opportunities to exchange experiences internationally with other passionate teachers
Future teachers (enrolled in educational studies) and in-service teachers (from all grades) will
be selected following two criterias:
motivation to participate in the Summer School
level of English knowledge.
You currently reside on the countries from the partnership.
As the Summer School is highly participatory, the motivation assessment will pay particular
attention to applicants’ willingness to engage actively, exchange experiences with colleagues
and reflect on their own teaching practice.
An open mind, a willingness to question our own assumptions and practices, and a genuine
interest in learning from different educational experiences are essential for taking part in this
Summer School.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the application form
